Friends, you probably know this, but today is the day! Summit County’s slopes are open! We’ve been counting the days since the lifts last ran in the spring. We’ve been watching OpenSnow for any chance of flakes. We’ve been waxing our boards just so at the first mention of snow they’re ready to go. No more waiting, the day is finally here! Here’s the inside scoop on each of Summit County’s great ski resorts:

A-Basin:

Maybe the best parking lot scene of all the resorts in Summit County – grills, games, and great vibes.  Bet you didn’t know we have a beach up here in the Rockies?  The Beach is a great hangout spot near the lower chairlift area at Arapahoe Basin.  If you’ve never been to a Basin Beach Party make sure you hit one this season and make sure to invite your friends at Rocky Mountain Ride!

Copper:

Copper Mountain has something for everyone!  Tired of skiing?  Grab some friends and head to the tubing hill. If tubing is not exciting enough for you thrill seekers, head over to Woodward Copper and get some indoor air while practicing your flips. Not interested in your feet leaving the earth? Copper’s West Lake hosts more than a few fun activities.  Rent some skates and try your hand at broomball, curling, or grab one of their hockey nets and spend a day on the ice (all of which are available for free). Whatever your winter passion, Copper has you covered!

Keystone:

Right down the road from Arapahoe Basin and just past Breckenridge, you will find Keystone Resort. If you’re like us, 4 o’clock seems to come a little early on a great day of riding.  Offering “the longest day of skiing in the state of Colorado,” Keystone has you covered if you want to take a few more turns after the lifts usually close. When was the last time you skied at night? Never?! Well you simply must give it a shot this season. Just don’t forget a few extra layers when you’re out there skiing at night – it can be surprisingly cold riding under the stars.

Breckenridge:

Breckenridge’s 5 peaks of fun are internationally acclaimed and will not disappoint. Like to get high?  Well Breck boast North America’s highest ski lift. The Imperial SuperChair will take you all the way up to 12,840 feet for a screaming downhill descent.  Had your fill of the slopes? Take a rest day and enjoy one of the best mountain towns the Rockies have to offer. Might we suggest hitting one of Breck’s world class microbreweries; Broken Compass Brewing is our personal favorite.  Family friendly, dog friendly, and more fun than an endless rollercoaster, Breckenridge is a must for any serious snow rider this ski season.

Summit County skiing is world renowned and absolutely amazing!  We hope to see you all in the van this year riding our daily Summit County ski shuttle. Hop in the shuttle and start making friends and memories you will never forget.  We’d love to hear from you too.  Leave a comment below about what you’re most excited for this ski season.

Whether you plan on learning to ski for the first time or dropping into your first black diamond, your friends at Rocky Mountain Ride are here for you.  We can’t wait to see you and start sharing ski stories. Cheers to opening day!

Ride On,
