Heading to a concert at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre? Riding our shuttle is the smartest way to get there, but don’t let your excitement for the show make you forget the essentials! Here’s an informative guide to ensure you’re fully prepared for an unforgettable night under the stars.
- Your Ticket: The Golden Key
Let’s start with the obvious (but most important): your concert ticket. Whether it’s a physical ticket or on your phone, double-check that you have it before leaving. No ticket = no entry = sad vibes. If it’s digital, make sure you’re logged into the ticket app before you lose cell service in the hills.
- The Bag Situation: Keep It Simple
Red Rocks has a strict bag policy: single-pocket bags or clear bags no larger than 13” x 15” x 8” are allowed. Fanny packs and small purses (6” x 9” or smaller) are also good to go. Leave your multi-pocket hiking backpack at home.
- Hydration Is Key
Colorado’s dry air and high altitude can sneak up on you. Bring a sealed water bottle (32 oz or less) or an empty reusable bottle to fill at water stations inside. Hydration packs are allowed but must be emptied of liquid and have no more than one extra pocket. We will also be providing water on the shuttle, so feel free to hydrate on the way up from Colorado Springs. And definitely on the way home too!
- Snacks: BYO Treats (And we’ll bring some too)
We provide complementary snacks and non-alcoholic drinks on our Red Rocks shuttle! It’s not enough to replace a meal, however. Bring a sandwich or something substantial to eat before the show. Once at the parking lot, tailgating is the perfect time to have a nice picnic before entering the venue. You can bring snacks inside, but they must be in a clear plastic bag (one gallon or smaller). Think sliced fruits, veggies, or trail mix—just keep it simple and avoid anything that requires utensils beyond plastic.
- Weather-Proof Your Night
Colorado weather is unpredictable, so pack for all possibilities:
- Raincoat or poncho: Ignore the forecast—it’s Colorado; it might rain.
- Layers: Even if it’s warm during the day, it can get chilly at night.
- Hat and sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun while looking effortlessly cool.
- Seat Cushion: Hail has been known to happen on occasion, and seat cushions can be a lifesaver when help overhead for protection. Which leads us to our next topic…
- Comfort Is King
Red Rocks seating is famously hard (literally). Bring a small cushion or stadium seat (under 18” wide, no legs). Blankets are also allowed but must fit under your seat.
- Extras for Fun and Function
- Binoculars: Great for spotting your favorite artist—or just people-watching.
- Sunscreen: Even if the show starts late, sunburns are not a good look.
- Portable charger: Don’t let your phone die before you capture that perfect sunset pic.
- Know What Not to Bring
Red Rocks has a long list of prohibited items allowed inside the venue:
- Alcohol, marijuana, or illegal substances
- Glass bottles or aluminum cans
- Umbrellas (you’ll block someone’s view)
- Hard-sided coolers
- Weapons of any kind (duh)
- Bags with multiple pockets
- Gum (yes, gum—just don’t bring it)
For a full list of rules, check out Red Rocks’ official policies before packing up.
