Wait, what?! You’ve never been to Red Rocks Amphitheater?! You, my friend are missing out! Red Rocks is a magical place with something for everyone. Music, movies, yoga, hiking, incredible views, and good vibes are just the tip of the iceberg (rockberg?). It’s a place that’s near and dear to my heart. A show at Red Rocks is such a memorable, one of a kind Colorado experience. Seeing a show at Red Rocks feels like seeing your very first concert all over again.

If you’ve never been to this geological gift of an open air amphitheater, or even if you have, your friend and van enthusiast, @rockymtnmerchant has got some tips to make your concert going experience a lot more enjoyable.

  • Get your tickets early – Time and time again I see some poor soul in the Red Rocks parking lot trying to score a ticket to see their favorite artist. You wouldn’t believe how fast and far in advance tickets sell out to most shows. When the Red Rocks concert schedule comes out, don’t overthink it and don’t miss out. Buy your tickets early and don’t waste what could be valuable tailgating time once you get there.
  • Remember to bring your tickets – Every bit as important as buying your ticket early. If I had a dollar for every time we’ve turned around for someone’s ticket, I would really only have enough dollars for a 7-11 taquito. Nevertheless, we’ve had a few close calls and we try to remind you when we pick you up to bring your ticket.

  • Tailgate, Tailgate, Tailgate – Going to Red Rocks is supposed to be fun and what’s more fun than tailgating? Hang out, enjoy the parking lot vibes. Don’t forget to bring your cooler we’ve got more than enough space in the van.
  • Watch out for the skunk – You read that correctly. It’s really no big deal. “If you don’t chase it you’ll be just fine” one parking lot attendant told me (sound advice anywhere you meet a skunk). One thing to keep in mind, Red Rocks Amphitheater is a park and parks in Colorado have many different types of wildlife, including hippies.
  • Bring a bag for your phone – Quick and easy. As you pass through the kitchen on your way out the door, grab a sandwich bag to protect that micro computer in your pocket. Concerts at Red Rocks go on, rain or shine. Believe me, nothing will change your opinion of the show faster than ruining your phone while singing along to your favorite band in the rain.

  • Remember where your ride is parked – You’ve just been to the best concert of your life and now you can’t find your ride. Finding your car and the lot in which it’s parked after a show can be a whole other experience. Well, if you rode with Rocky Mountain Ride, no worries! We’ve got you covered and we’re waiting for you right at the base of the ramp you entered the venue using. Let one of our friendly drivers escort you through the crowds and directly back to the van. Of course, we’ll also wait for you outside of the portable restrooms.
  • It’s OK to Take a Break – If you end up in the lower south parking lot, you’ve got a trek ahead of ya. Approximately 380 steps to the very top of the Rocks for a spectacular view, to be exact. No matter how fit you are, the 6000 foot elevation is a factor. Don’t feel ashamed to take a break to catch your breath and take in the sights. Your lungs and legs will thank you later!
  • Don’t Party and Drive – This one is the most important tip on the list! Have fun! Have all the fun even! Just don’t get behind the wheel after all that fun!!! Plan your Red Rocks transportation in advance. The drive from Red Rocks back to Colorado Springs is a long drive, late at night. Even if you don’t use our Red Rocks concert shuttle service, please please please be safe out there and don’t you or your friends party and drive.

Being in the mountains and taking people there is what we’re all about at Rocky Mountain Ride. Did you know that we offer shuttles to shows at Red Rocks? Or that we can take you to places like Salida, Buena Vista, Breckenridge, Canon City, and more? Let us take you on your next adventure!

Ride On,
